Le projet puise son inspiration des mythes et légendes aborigènes ainsi que de la terre rouge australienne. La mythologie du Serpent arc-en-ciel est à l’origine du dessin. Nous avons imaginé la combinaison de murs organiques en terre crue rouge face aux gabarits rigoureux des containers.
Le sol rouge s’élève, suspendu tel un monstre tribal à la pointe de Bondy Bay.
À Sydney, la température est agréable presque toute l’année. De ce fait, nous avons privilégiés les solutions vernaculaires et n’avons pas créé d’isolation supplémentaire. Le revêtement de toit en acier Corten protège les espaces intermédiaires de la lumière directe. Des containers secondaires sont placés dans le container principal et l’air chaud est approvisionné grâce au système du puits canadien. Les épais murs de terre crue garantissent une température agréable dans tous les espaces de vie.
The project takes its roots in the aboriginal myths and culture and the red soil of Australia. The mythological Rainbow Serpent guided the design. We imagine red and organic raw earth walls mixing with the strict framework of containers.
The red soil rises and creates a tribal monster at the tip of Bondy Bay.
In Sydney, the weather is nice almost all year long. Therefore, we wanted no insulation but vernacular solutions. The over top Corten cover protects intermediary spaces from direct sun. Secondary containers are placed in the primary ones and warm air is blown in through a Canadian well. Thick perspiring raw earth walls guarantee a warm temperature in all living spaces.
